AI SEO audit tools check whether AI crawlers can reach and read your pages, alongside the classic technical checks. We compared eight as of 29 October 2026: Asky, Semrush, Ahrefs, SE Ranking, Screaming Frog, Sitebulb, Conductor and Rankscale. Asky comes first because its audit ends in fixes: it fixes supported issues through your connected CMS, changing only the field, block or component that needs it. The audit, AI crawler logs and AI tracking start at €99 a month, and automatic fixes come with the €899 Momentum plan.

AI crawlers now arrive in volume. Daily requests from AI agents on Cloudflare's network grew by more than 1,700% in a year (Cloudflare). Every fact about each tool below comes from its own website, checked on 29 October 2026.

What criteria should an AI SEO audit meet?

It should find what stops AI crawlers reading your site and connect that to whether AI answers cite you. We checked each tool against four tests.

  • AI crawler access. The audit flags robots.txt rules that block named AI crawlers such as GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot and PerplexityBot.
  • What crawlers actually get. Most AI crawlers do not run JavaScript, so the audit should read the raw HTML a crawler receives.
  • Real crawler visits. Logs show which AI crawlers fetch which pages, which an audit alone cannot prove.
  • A path to the fix. The tool should fix supported issues or hand your team a clear fix for each one.

How is an AI search audit different from a standard SEO audit?

A standard audit asks whether Googlebot can crawl and index your pages; an AI search audit also asks whether AI crawlers can reach and read them. The checks overlap, but AI crawlers add their own access rules and usually skip JavaScript.

Few sites manage AI crawlers on purpose yet. GPTBot is named in 4.5% of desktop robots.txt files, and llms.txt files appear on about 2% of sites (HTTP Archive Web Almanac). Blocking is linked with lower AI visibility: sites that block Google-Extended were significantly less likely to be retrieved by AI Overviews in one study (SIGIR 2026).

1. Asky: best for audits that end in fixes

Overview

Asky is an AI-native SEO and GEO platform from Stockholm that closes the loop from insight to execution. Its audit covers crawlability, indexability, structured data, internal linking and AI retrieval across 19 categories, ranked by severity and pages affected.

Strengths

  • Asky reads each page the way a crawler does, from robots.txt rules that block named AI crawlers to missing JSON-LD and canonical problems.
  • Real-time AI crawler logs show which AI crawlers visit which pages and how their behavior changes after updates.
  • Asky finds orphan pages and pages linked only from menus and footers.
  • For supported issues, the Asky agent applies the fix through your connected CMS, automatically or with your approval, changing only the field, block or component that needs it.
  • Everything else comes with a fix guide and a copy-ready prompt for your developer, ranked with Asky's content and third-party actions in one queue.

Weaknesses

  • Asky changes pages in Webflow, WordPress and Sanity: fewer CMS integrations, each editing a single field, block or widget.
  • It is built for teams that want SEO and GEO work done, so it is more than a one-off crawl needs.

Best for

Teams that want to know whether AI crawlers can read their site, whether AI answers cite it and what to fix first, with the fixes shipped.

2. Semrush: best for AI search checks inside a large SEO suite

Overview

Semrush, based in Boston, adds an AI Search category to its Site Audit. The category scores AI Search Health and covers AI crawler access, llms.txt and schema markup.

Strengths

  • A Blocked from AI Search widget checks robots.txt for eight AI crawlers.
  • Site Audit can crawl as the OpenAI search user agent and re-crawl daily or weekly.
  • Its knowledge base says the AI Search checks run in every Site Audit.

Weaknesses

  • JavaScript rendering starts on Semrush One Pro+ and Advanced.
  • Log analysis for AI bots is part of its Enterprise offering only.

Best for

Semrush customers who want an AI readiness score next to their existing technical audits.

3. Ahrefs: best for a free audit for verified sites

Overview

Ahrefs, the SEO toolset based in Singapore, added an AI Discoverability category to its Site Audit in 2026. Site Audit is free for sites with verified ownership.

Strengths

  • AI Discoverability flags pages blocked from AI bots, pages too heavy for AI crawlers and pages that need JavaScript rendering.
  • Bot Analytics reads server logs through Cloudflare, Vercel, CloudFront or Fastly, free during its beta on paid plans.
  • Patches applies fixes through a JavaScript snippet or a Cloudflare Worker.

Weaknesses

  • Bot Analytics needs a supported CDN or host to read logs.
  • Bot Analytics and Brand Radar need paid plans beyond the free audit.

Best for

Site owners who want a free AI-aware audit and may later pay for Ahrefs' wider toolset.

4. SE Ranking: best for scheduled audits with AI tracking in one plan

Overview

SE Ranking includes Website Audit and an AI results tracker in its SEO plans, from Core at $129 a month with 100 tracked prompts. Its audit renders JavaScript and runs on a schedule.

Strengths

  • JavaScript rendering on its Website Audit, with weekly or monthly scheduled audits.
  • AI answer tracking for 100 prompts is included on Core.
  • A 14-day free trial with no card.

Weaknesses

  • Its pages describe no AI-specific audit checks, such as AI crawler blocks.
  • Its pages describe no AI crawler log analysis.

Best for

SEO teams that want scheduled technical audits and AI tracking in one SEO plan.

5. Screaming Frog: best for a desktop crawl you configure yourself

Overview

Screaming Frog's SEO Spider is a desktop crawler for Windows, macOS and Linux. It has a free version, and a license costs $279 a year per user.

Strengths

  • A paid license crawls as far as your machine's memory and storage allow.
  • You can crawl as an AI crawler user agent and test robots.txt against it.
  • JavaScript rendering with headless Chromium flags content that only appears after rendering.

Weaknesses

  • AI crawler logs need its separate Log File Analyser, with log files you upload.
  • It does not track AI answers, and it reports issues rather than fixing them.

Best for

Technical SEOs who want full control of a crawl on their own machine.

6. Sitebulb: best for seeing what crawlers get before rendering

Overview

Sitebulb offers desktop and cloud crawlers, from Lite at $18 a month. Its Response vs Render report, on Pro at $42 a month and in the cloud crawler, compares raw HTML with the rendered page.

Strengths

  • Response vs Render shows content that a crawler without JavaScript would miss.
  • JavaScript rendering on every plan.
  • Its Labs Chrome extension checks AI bot rules and validates llms.txt on a page.

Weaknesses

  • The AI bot and llms.txt checks sit in the extension, one page at a time, not in the crawler.
  • Log file analysis is listed as in development.

Best for

Technical SEOs who need to show developers exactly what crawlers get before rendering.

7. Conductor: best for always-on monitoring for large sites

Overview

Conductor's Monitoring, formerly ContentKing, crawls sites around the clock, and the platform also tracks AI answers. Its prices are not published.

Strengths

  • robots.txt is checked every five minutes, with alerts on changes.
  • It flags noai directives and issues between raw and rendered HTML.
  • AI crawler logs come through CDN integrations with Cloudflare, Akamai, CloudFront and Fastly.

Weaknesses

  • No public prices; plans set usage limits on pages, sites, keywords and AI credits.
  • AI crawler logs are an add-on below Enterprise.

Best for

Large sites that need alerts the moment something changes.

8. Rankscale: best for single-page AI audits in a tracker

Overview

Rankscale is an AI visibility tracker with a Page Audit for one URL at a time. Essentials costs $17 a month billed yearly.

Strengths

  • Page Audit penalizes each blocked AI bot, such as GPTBot and PerplexityBot.
  • An optional rendering readiness check.
  • AI Visits reads AI crawler requests through a read-only Cloudflare token, from Pro.

Weaknesses

  • It audits single URLs, ten a month on Essentials, rather than crawling the site.
  • AI Visits needs the site to run on Cloudflare.

Best for

Small sites that want AI tracking with spot checks of key pages.

Which audit tool fits your site?

Start with what happens after the audit. If you want supported issues fixed in your CMS and ranked with your content work, Asky does that; Ahrefs applies fixes through a script, and the others report.

If you want a crawler you configure and run yourself, Screaming Frog and Sitebulb are built for that, and Sitebulb's Response vs Render report shows what crawlers miss.

How did we compare these tools?

We read each vendor's pricing page, product pages and documentation on 29 October 2026, and quoted prices as listed, before tax. We did not compare check counts or page limits, because vendors count issues and pages differently.

Semrush's pages differ on whether its $139 SEO plan includes the AI Search checks, so we quote Semrush One Starter. Screaming Frog lists its license at £199 a year by default; we quote its US dollar price. Sitebulb's FAQ and pricing table give different cloud prices, so we quote only its desktop plans.

Key takeaways
  1. Check robots.txt for every AI crawler you care about, not only Googlebot.
  2. Test what your pages show without JavaScript; most AI crawlers do not run it.
  3. Use crawler logs to confirm that AI crawlers actually reach your key pages.
  4. Connect the audit to AI visibility, so you fix the pages that matter for citations first.
